Author Barry “BJ” Spaulding invites readers on a profound journey of faith, accountability, and personal transformation with the release of his compelling novel, Who’s to Blame. Through a thought-provoking exploration of hardship, belief, and the human experience, Spaulding presents a story that challenges readers to look beyond their circumstances and discover the strength found in resilience and self-awareness.

Who’s to Blame follows the journey of a young man who, overwhelmed by the challenges and adversities of life, blames God for his struggles. In an extraordinary encounter, he is brought to Heaven, where he must confront his beliefs, misconceptions, and understanding of life’s hardships. Through this powerful experience, he begins to recognize that difficulties are not simply punishments or obstacles placed before him, but opportunities to grow, learn, and define who he truly is.

Inspired by contemporary questions surrounding faith and the afterlife, Spaulding’s novel explores the complex relationship between human struggles and spiritual understanding. The story delivers a meaningful message about resilience, personal responsibility, and the importance of how individuals choose to respond to life’s challenges.

“It is my hope that readers will be inspired by this story about resilience in life and the relationship between positive and negative events,” says Spaulding. “Life’s troubles are not what define us. How we deal with those troubles is what ultimately shapes our journey.”

A retired federal law enforcement officer and United States Army veteran, Barry “BJ” Spaulding brings decades of experience, discipline, and storytelling to his writing. During his military service, he was trained as an Army journalist, contributing to newspapers and working with the Army Test Command in public relations, where he helped showcase military research and development efforts. He later served nearly 32 years as a federal police officer, earning numerous certifications in training, weapons instruction, self-defense, anti-terrorism, and active shooter response.

Beyond his professional career, Spaulding has been passionate about writing since high school, creating fiction and fantasy stories while continuing to expand his craft as an avid reader. His diverse experiences, love of learning, and appreciation for storytelling have shaped his ability to create narratives centered on courage, imagination, and the deeper questions of life.

In addition to Who’s to Blame, Spaulding is also the author of DARKSTAR: The Fight for Survival, continuing his exploration of human determination and the challenges that test the spirit.

Through Who’s to Blame, Barry “BJ” Spaulding encourages readers to reflect on their own journeys, embrace personal growth, and recognize that even life’s most difficult moments can lead to understanding, strength, and transformation.
